forever child at heart.
Sarah Cole - Shower
'a video projected onto a snow globe, showing two teenage girls caught in an eternal pillow fight. the video was made in collaboration with the girls, as part of a project with the residents of a south london housing estate. the videos reflects the girls feelings on growing up and the buildings they live in.'
i went to the museum of childhood today as research for my current uni project, was brilliant having an excuse to go there to be perfectly honest! :) my favourite thing i saw had to be a video installation by Sarah Cole.
it was part of an exhibition called 'the imagination of children' an exhibition with 6 contributing artists conveying their own interpretation of the title, each given a specific part of the museums artifacts to focus their piece on.
what i liked most about Sarah Coles piece was the conceptual nature behind it, the nostalgic effect of projecting the video through a snow globe combined with the hazey movement, lighting and colours to the composition added to the overall playful and raw essence to the concept. it was far from what i expected to see on my visit, with quite a mature artistic approach and aesthetic.
